January 2016

Happy New Year!

Our first quilt club of 2016.  We were delayed a week by record snow storm Jonas.  In Dover we got 31 inches of snow and I think the amounts were similar for our quilt club members.  It took them three days to plow our neighborhood.  So it was nice to finally get out of the house and do something fun.

Sheree has made great progress on her medallion quilt.  It is looking really pretty.  She is ready for the star applique border.

She finished her wine quilt for her daughter and son in law.

She used that fun wine fabric for the backing.

Linda's half square triangle quilt is finished.
I made two of Bonnie Hunter's Allietare mystery quilt.  This one is almost in her colors.  I was using my own colors, but fell in love with the blocks I was seeing in her colors so decided to make two.  This one is for Elijah to use when snuggling in front of the TV.
This is the back where I used orphan blocks, sheets and random fabric.  Elijah told me today that this is his favorite part.
This is Allietare in my colors.  I really stepped outside of my box with this. I made it larger-more of a king size.  The one above I made about half the size of hers.
This is Sue's Kaffe Fassett quilt.  I just love his fabrics and this quilt made with them is amazing.
Rhonda has another winning quilt.  I think she said this one was two years in the making.  It was a leader/ender project.

This is a block of the month Lynette Jennings' quilt that Rhonda made.  It is in fact the second one of these.

Linda made some of the shopping totes for her family.  That is the Eiffel Tower on the fabric to remind them of their France trip.

Rhonda made another T shirt quilt-this time for her daughter Carrie.  She is definitely quite the pro at these now.

We had a small group today-Rhonda, Linda, Sue, Sheree and I.  We missed the rest of you.  Sue did some embroidery for Sheree, Linda was working on her bags, Rhonda worked on scrap triangle squares and  I just did a little bit of knitting.

We had chicken, chicken noodle soup, Puerto Rican Rice, and chips and dips to eat.

Next month, February 27, Rhonda has a make and take for us.  We couldn't get any hints from her about what it is, except that it is no sew and maybe Christmas.  Here are her instructions about what we need:

4 strips of fabric of two contrasting colors measuring 3 X 14.

Iron them in half lengthwise (wrong side together) creating a center fold.
Then refold the centerfold and iron again.   There will be four strips with the raw edges folded inside.

Last, but not least, here is our virtual show and tell-mostly Christmas gifts already gifted.

Snowman wreath that Patty made.
Pea coats that I knitted for my three youngest grandsons.

Christmas quilts that Cathy made for her grand kids.

Double Irish chain I made for my aunt.

Here is a close-up of the quilting.  This turned out pretty nice for this type of quilt.

This is a Mine Craft quilt Cathy made for her grandson Kevin

And the back showing the quilting, done by Jo at Smile Spinners.
This blanket Cathy made for her grand dog Lego!
And that is all for this month.  The fonts and everything changed when I copied Rhonda's instructions and I am too tired to try to figure out how to fix it.  Sorry if it is difficult to read.

November 2015

It was a beautiful day at Cloverleaf Quilt Club.  This was basically a nonscheduled meeting, but it was pretty full.  We missed only Sheree and Sue.  Patty stopped in to pick up some quilts and we got to see some of her show and tell.

Everyone kind of worked on their own thing.  Rhonda was working on her round robin, Peggy was working on pajama bottoms for the grands for Christmas, Cathy was working on a flannel quilt for her grandson, Linda was working on a quilt for her nephew, Deb was working on baby gifts and I was working on my mystery quilt.  I think we all made a lot of progress.

And now for show and tell.  This is Rhonda's Hot Cross Buns.  This is a Bonnie Hunter quilt from the quiltmaker magazine.  She used her bin of 1 1/2 inch strips for this.  It is absolutely gorgeous.  We will have to get a "cleaner" picture of it when it is finished.

Patty has really made progress on her round robin quilt.  She has her applique star border done on her blue and white RR quilt.  I am looking forward to seeing how she interprets the border for her purple version.  She is making two of them!

Sorry for turning Patty and Rhonda sideways, but I liked seeing the quilt like this instead of sideways.  I had to decide who was not going to be wonky, and the quilt won!!  Rhonda quilted this for her.
Rhonda quilted Patty's Texas Tumbleweed quilt, so it was ready for show and tell too.  Just beautiful.

Cathy made this cute Maryland Terrapins quilt.

This is the quilt Linda was working on today-and she finished the flimsy!  It is a half square triangle quilt.  I love this interesting layout.  This is for her nephew who recently moved to NYC.

Rhonda fed us today.  She made an Italian bread taco meat type sandwich which was delish.  She also made a granola mix out of brown rice Triscuits.  That was addicting.  We also had chips, veggies and dips.

Next Saturday we will be going on our annual Christmas shop hop.  We are going to be meeting Deb at the Galleria Mall at 8:30.  I guess we will meet Peggy there too.  I think the rest of us will be meeting at Rhonda's earlier.  Patty may be meeting us at Kitchen Kettle Village-our first stop.  We will have to get an email out to verify all of this.

October 2015

We had another fun, relaxing day at quilt club.  I think the only one who did any real work was Sue, who put the names on the faux fur for Sheree's and my Christmas stockings.  I think she even made some progress on the make and take Rhonda had for us to do.  I messed up in cutting mine, so I will have to try making mine at home, if I find the time.  Rhonda cut another one out and will have that finished soon.  Addendum-I got an email and it looks like Rhonda had hers finished 15 minutes after we left!   Down below is a picture of her finished one.

This is Rhonda's Periwinkle type quilt made with Downton Abby prints.  We all fawned over this.  A beautiful interpretation of this quilt.

Cathy has some show and tells this month.  This is a table runner for a shower gift.  Front...
 and back.
And a Christmas table runner for her DIL, I think.  Front....
 and back
This is the tumbler quilt Cathy made for her neighbor who is battling cancer.  Front....
 and back.
And a baby quilt for a great nephew?  Front....
and back.
Patty made this baby quilt with fabric Cathy had.  I am going to finish it and give it to AJ.  Thanks Patty!
Patty's chevron quilt is finished!  Very nice!
This is Peggy's round robins so far.  She gave us templates and directions for her round of the quilt.  Two different sizes of stars will be appliqued on a 5 1/2-6 1/2 inch neutral border.  These are all so different with the same pattern.  This is a fun project for us.

This is a MSQ pattern that Peggy made for her husband's coworker.  The color combination is very pretty.
Here are some of the crochet projects Peggy has made recently.  I think she will have some happy present openers on Christmas!
This is my Grand Illusion.  I finally finished it in time to start the next mystery quilt in November.
Sue made this creative memory quilt out of shirts and jeans.  Great job Sue!
Peggy is retiring!  Congratulations.  We had a little celebration party for her.
This is the make and take project.  Rhonda used some really great fabric in hers.  It looks like it is hand painted linen.  I think she said she bought this in New Mexico?
Rhonda's second market bag.  I love the way this turned out too!

We had barbeque, pasta salads, Peggy's Kielbasa dish and cake to eat.  Peggy's yummy kielbasa was made with the kielbasa, brown mustard and brown sugar cooked in the crock pot.

Next month there will be no official meeting, but if you want to sew Rhonda graciously will have her house opened to you November 28th..

December 5th we will have our traditional winter shop hop in Lancaster.  Details to follow.
