April 2012

We had a lot of show and tells again this month.  Here are two commissioned quilts Peggy made for the preschools.  She printed out pictures of the class to add to the children's hand prints.  They are adorable!  The teachers will love them.

Here is Rhonda's show and tell.  She and her daughter each made one of these beautiful star quilts.

Deb's quilt is finished!  We all loved her colors.  She tried a new stitch for attaching the binding-the button hole stitch-which looked great and really finished the quilt off nicely.

Rhonda finished her quilt like this-in purples, but it was already gifted.  (Rhonda if you send me a picture I will add it to the blog.  I finished mine too and already gifted it. I will see if I have a picture to add.)

Linda had a lot of show and tells for the month.  Where did she find the time to finish piecing these tops!  The first one is a Thimbleberries block of the month.  Very pretty.

The second one was a kit she got while in Alaska.  She mentioned a mistake that we all think actually added to the quilt.

This third is the progress so far on another lovely block of the month quilt she is making.  The colors are much prettier in person.  She is learning new techniques with this project.

Here is my quilt for show and tell.  This was a commissioned quilt for a friend to give to her daughter for her wedding.  This was designed on EQ7. We were both delighted with how this turned out.

Peggy had been busy.  She made these beaded stilettos using this tutorial.   She gave us each one. They are a fun, pretty new tool for us to use.  It was tossed around at club to make some with our cloverleaf on them to hand out /exchange with quilting friends we meet.

Peggy was also working on hand piecing a hexie quilt.  She says it will be a long time until we see this one finished.
She also had her blocks from her Craftsy quilt along she is doing.
I need to take more pictures!

Deb, Sheree, Linda and Rhonda were using their DSM's to quilt the table runners they made last month.  I quilted the dog mats that I made for a friend.

Here is a little lunch bag I made and shared.  It turned out really cute and I shared the tutorial via email with the club.

And of course there is the food!  Rhonda's chicken corn soup, Sheree's Tex-Mex hotdogs, Deb's coleslaw, Linda's salad, Peggy's strawberry dessert, red velvet cupcakes, artichoke dip, and macaroni salad.  The food is almost as fun as the quilting!

I think we have decided to make the blue and white quilt for the Special Olympics.  I sent a picture of it to everyone and we all like it.  We will have to bring our blue and white squares to work on it.  The block is called the Depression Block.

We are making plans to visit Mary's Quilt Shop in July to see Bonnie Hunter. We will be attending a trunk show on Friday night and a class on Saturday. We will finally get to meet our quilting idol.

This is the one day a month that I look forward to. Over the past 9 years I have learned so much about quilting from my friends, especially from Rhonda. We have taken a few fun quilting and shopping trips and I am looking forward to our quilting weekend this summer, and most especially meeting Bonnie Hunter. I have grown to love srcap quilting because of her and I am finally use up some of my stash!!!!
