Quilt club went to Bedford Pa for a Bonnie Hunter weekend. They stayed at Mary's Quilt Shop. Here are Bonnie's tips.
Rhonda: Bonnie says: Do not use a steam iron. No water in the iron. Press don't iron.
Cathy: when doing four patch - always make sure the dark is on top left when sewing. This will keep all the seams correct and they will nest.
Peggy: She said when doing sashings, if you use a light or neutral color it will make you block float, I think that is the same as pop. She also said when doing a curved border sew the binding onto the front of the quilt before trimming the curves, because it is easier to shape the binding then.

Had a great weekend with my friends and got a lot of tips on quilting from Bonnie. Saw bonnie's quilts at the trunk show and quilt
was beautiful. We watched her demonstrate on how to cut up a cotton shirt for making a quilt. We met a lot of nice women and made a new friend named Jane who stayed with us at Mary' Quilt Retreat. Bedford is an old town with a lot of small specialty shops and resturants, definately a place to go back and explore sometime. We went to the Weaving Museum where Firestone Fiber shop is and being a knitter and crocheter I was able to get some beautiful yarn that the owner had dyed and spun. We plan on returning to Bedford the end of October for the local Shop Hop, and staying at Mary's Quilt Retreat for the weekend.

Mary's Quilt Shop is a unique shop that features fabric by Mary Koval. They did a great job on the Retreat area. Seeing Bonnie Hunter was very inspiring. Makes me want to sew, sew, sew. She is amazing.
