November Shop
Hop
We had a great time last
Saturday. Shop Hopper's were Deb, Cathy, Linda and Rhonda.
We headed to Gettysburg for a stop at
Needle and Thread. A Civil war reproduction shop with a side business making
reenactment clothes. It was a very interesting
shop.
Next stop was Marion 's Fabric of
Greencastle. Not as exciting as I remember but they did have some nice
Christmas fabric and fabric panels and patterns.
On
to the first shop hop in Hagerstown , we pass a sign that says “Shady
Grove Fabrics”. Yes, we have to go back
and check it out. What a find! It is run
by a “German Baptist” woman, dressed much like a Mennonite. The small shop was brightly lit and full of
nice fabric. There were lots of panels
and Christmas fabric. They also had a
shopping cart full of fabric at $2.50 and $3.00. We did a lot of damage in that shop. Surely will visit this shop
again.
Now
to the first shop hop shop – Traditions at the White Swan in Hagerstown . Demos, food, finished products for sale. The quilt pattern designed for the “hop” was
a Dresden plate
pattern. It was gorgeous. They did a demo and had a template that will
make it so easy.
They also had a large selection of wools and patterns for quilts and
penny rugs. The wool quilt was
awesome. They were very personable and
the shop was full.
It’s about 2 pm and we are getting hungry. Looking for a place to eat, Mexican it
is. Consulted “SADIE” (Cathy’s GPS) and
she pointed us to a great Mexican restaurant.
We knew it had to be good since it was crowded at 2 in the
afternoon. Excellent
meal.
Last stop was in Mt.
Airy Maryland , Patches.
Nice fabric, wide variety. Cathy
found University
of Maryland fabric. Their shop hop quilt was a maple leaf
pattern. We have the pattern for that
one too.
We
were home by 7:30 pm. It was a great day
