February 2012

Show & Tell at quilt club was inspiring once again. Rhonda has the top finished for her Orca Bay mystery by Bonnie Hunter.  We all love the colors Rhonda chose.
And here is her 5 yard quilt finished.
Her applique quilt top-I forget the name of this one.
Poor Linda, suffering from a cold, had this adorable quilt made with her grandson's onesies.  This will be a present for her daughter.
And Sue's lovely duffle bag.  She is making these for presents for the bridesmaids at her daughter's wedding.
We had an industrious day.  Pam had the mini lesson on ties for our grandsons.  Sue, Sheree, Peggy and Linda  made the ties.

Deb worked on her lime and teal quilt-I forget what that is called too!   Peggy worked on her new charity quilt for her husband's shop.     Pam worked on her Orca Bay, and Linda and Rhonda worked on their projects.  Sheree went on to make at least two more ties!

Here are our ties.  I can't wait to see them on the little guys!

And the food!  Sandwiches, salads, homemade wine, birthday cake, and Rhonda's spinach and artichoke dip.

Spinach Artichoke dip
2 cups parmigiana cheese
1 (10 ounce) box frozen chopped spinach , thawed
1 (14 ounce) can artichoke hearts , drained and chopped
2⁄3; cup sour cream
1 cup cream cheese
1⁄3; cup mayonnaise
2 teaspoons garlic , minced

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Mix together Parmesan cheese, spinach, and artichoke hearts.
  3. Combine remaining ingredients and mix with spinach mixture.
  4. Bake for 20-30 minutes.
  5. Serve with crackers or toasted bread

This is the inspiration for next month's lesson.  We are going to make table runners with this applique.  How pretty is this?
We are auditioning quilts for our Special Olympics quilt for this year.  We received a very nice thank you note that we will share on the blog.

See everyone next month!  We missed Kathy and hope she is able to be with us then.
