February 2020

Happy Leap Day!  It is the last day of February and the weather is cold and windy.  March is supposed to come in like a lion and go out like a lamb.  If this is any indication of the lion for March, the old saying holds true for the beginning of the month.

We had a small group today:  Rhonda, Sue, Linda and me.  Most of us were working on our group project.  One of us already finished hers.  I am not mentioning who it was, but show and tell will reveal the culprit!

Rhonda took the rug making class and really enjoyed making the rug and the class.  Here is her rug.
Rhonda's window pane quilts have been quilted.  I think we are all on the lookout for a great panel to make one of our own.

The pineapple quilt is all put together.  This is all batiks except for the pink square.  They don't get much prettier than this.
Hmmmm-here is the quilt club quilt.  It is even prettier in person.
Rhonda has finished another row for her Hawaiian quilt.  This too is so much prettier in person.
Linda made this row for a Row by Row quilt.  This is a great block.
Sue gave this runner to Rhonda, who is going to use it for a bed runner.

She even had it signed by Jenny Doan.  So very cool.
Linda made this table runner for a friend....
and she quilted it herself!  Great job Linda!
This is a memory quilt that Linda is making for a friend.  Her husband was a police officer.  She even incorporated the shirts into the border.  Another great job.  I am sure your friend will love this.
She made this cute baby quilt too.  What an adorable pattern.
Another completed group quilt top.  This one is Sheree's.  It is actually more red than pink.
Sue's husband Jim made this quilt of valor quilt all by himself.  He even quilted it himself.  This one he plans on keeping.  We are all impressed with Jim's quilting abilities!
This was a challenge quilt Sue made for her other quilt club.  She had three colors and a neutral to work with.  The blocks were made with curves.  Gorgeous!
Some of Sue's amazing quilting.  Sue told us how to do some of the free hand quilting that you can't see in the picture.  I would like to give that a try.
This is going to be a memory body pillow cover.  The clothes are baby dresses of her friend's mother along with some of the quilt blocks she made.  She was a piano player.
Sue hid a hanky and an embroidered saying in one of the dresses.

We all had a nice time sewing, eating and socializing.  Rhonda made some special sandwiches-sorry but I forget the name of them.  Linda made a light fruity dessert.  Sue brought a veggie/broccoli salad.  I just brought drinks.  Everything was really good.

Rhonda is going on her quilty cruise next month.  I wish you well for this trip and hope you don't end up quarantined.  (There is a corona virus scare right now.)  Have fun!

We will meet again as a club April 25th.

Until then, everyone stay healthy and have fun quilting!
