Welcome to a cold and wet May quilt club. It was a good day to be inside socializing. Socializing we did too! For some reason we didn't do much talking about quilts or sewing of the same. Sometimes it is just nice to get together and chat.
We did things a little bit different this time. Brunch was the menu, so we ate first. Below are some pictures of the food. On the left is Rhonda's breakfast casserole. I will post the recipe when I get it. The dish on the right is Sheree's French toast casserole. There was also fruit but I am not sure who brought that. I will add the name if anyone tells me.
TATER TOT SAUSAGE BREAKFAST CASSEROLE
PREP TIME: 10 MINSCOOK TIME: 1 HOURTOTAL TIME: 1 HOURS AND 10 MINS
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 lb hot breakfast sausage
- 1 (30-32oz) bag frozen tater tots
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1-1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
- 8 eggs
- 2 cups milk
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large skillet, cook sausage until no longer pink. Drain fat.
- In a large bowl, toss together tater tots, cooked sausage and cheeses. Pour into a lightly greased 9x13-inch pan.
- Whisk together eggs, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and milk. Pour over tater tot mixture.
- **Cover and refrigerate at this point if baking later.**
- Bake uncovered for 60 - 70 minutes, or until eggs are set.

Peggy brought a blueberry lemon cake. The recipe for this is below. This got tons of raves.
LEMON BLUEBERRY BUNDT CAKE WITH LEMON GLAZE
CAKE
lemon boxed cake mix
boxed lemon pudding
4 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1/4 cup oil
1 pint blueberries
2 tbsp turbindo sugar
GLAZE
3cup powdered sugar
3 tbsp melted butter
zest of 1 lemon
juice of 1 lemon
Mix cake mix, pudding, eggs, sour cream and oil together.
Fold in blueberries ( batter will be thick so fold in easily)
Spread batter evenly in pan and spread turbindo sugar over batter.
Bake 350 degrees for 40-45min.
Cool in pan for 30min. then remove from pan to cooling rack till finish
cooling.
Make glaze with above ingredients. I used a small lemon and it wasn't
enough liquid so I added more lemon juice.
I found that this made enough to ice the cake instead of glazing it, so if
you only want to glaze I would only use half the amount of powdered sugar.

We had special guests today too! Jessie came with her son to pick up the bags. Her son was born 6 weeks early and she was given care packages while in the NICU and wants to pay it forward. She will fill the bags that we made with goodies for other parents who have to spend time with their newborns there.
Carrie had a weighted blanket to show us that she made for Griffin. Thomas the train on one side and minkie on the other. She used 11 pounds of pellets in the blanket. If anyone wants to make one Carrie can share the info she gathered to make hers.
For our regular show and tell, Sheree used Bonnie Hunter's new block and made this baby quilt.
She also found some adorable penguin panels to make quilts for her daughter's baby due in July.
Rhonda used a cute Minnie panel for this quilt.
This is a nine patch that is cut in quarters. It is made with a Connecting Threads fabric line. The colors are gorgeous on this quilt, but that wasn't captured by the picture.
This contemporary quilt Rhonda made is for a niece's wedding. Rhonda saw a picture and drafted the blocks to work for her.
A Hungry Hungry Caterpillar panel was used for the center of this quilt.
Sue made this memory quilt for a gentleman who lost his wife.
Peggy made these cute bags. See the buttons on the large one.Peggy crocheted this nice sweater.
This is where everyone parked themselves today. Peggy is sitting on the steps. Not a sewing machine in site!
As I was leaving a surprise guest was arriving! Deb returned from the South for settlement on their house here in PA. It was nice to see her and catch up with all of her new activities at her new home. Great to see you again Deb! Unfortunately Cathy had already left. Thanks for taking the picture Ed!
