We had another fun, relaxing day at quilt club.  I think the only one who did any real work was Sue, who put the names on the faux fur for Sheree's and my Christmas stockings.  I think she even made some progress on the make and take Rhonda had for us to do.  I messed up in cutting mine, so I will have to try making mine at home, if I find the time.  Rhonda cut another one out and will have that finished soon.  Addendum-I got an email and it looks like Rhonda had hers finished 15 minutes after we left!   Down below is a picture of her finished one.

This is Rhonda's Periwinkle type quilt made with Downton Abby prints.  We all fawned over this.  A beautiful interpretation of this quilt.

 This is Peggy's round robins so far.  She gave us templates and directions for her round of the quilt.  Two different sizes of stars will be appliqued on a 5 1/2-6 1/2 inch neutral border.  These are all so different with the same pattern.  This is a fun project for us.

This is a MSQ pattern that Peggy made for her husband's coworker.  The color combination is very pretty.

 Here are some of the crochet projects Peggy has made recently.  I think she will have some happy present openers on Christmas!

 Peggy is retiring!  Congratulations.  We had a little celebration party for her.

 This is the make and take project.  Rhonda used some really great fabric in hers.  It looks like it is hand painted linen.  I think she said she bought this in New Mexico?

We had barbeque, pasta salads, Peggy's Kielbasa dish and cake to eat.  Peggy's yummy kielbasa was made with the kielbasa, brown mustard and brown sugar cooked in the crock pot.

Next month there will be no official meeting, but if you want to sew Rhonda graciously will have her house opened to you November 28th..

December 5th we will have our traditional winter shop hop in Lancaster.  Details to follow.

September shop hop!

We enjoyed our Gettysburg/Hagerstown shop hop on the 26th.  This was the first time many of us visited these shops.  Pricing is quite different than the Lancaster shops for the most part, but it was still fun to see the shops displays and fabrics anyway.

The first shop is The Finishing Stitch Quilt and Fabric Shop in Gettysburg.  They have woolens and period clothing making supplies in addition to quilt fabrics.  Do you see Mary Koval's 1775 Palampore?  Bonnie Hunter was giving one of these panels away on her blog.  I think it was $47.  There were other fabrics there from Mary's collection.

This is at Shady Grove Fabrics in Greencastle.  It wasn't a large shop, but once again we all managed to find some fabrics to buy.

Our next stop was Wilson Quilt Shop in Hagerstown.  There were beautiful quilts with extensive machine embroidery throughout the shop.  We got in trouble for taking pictures.  We were told all the pictures were on their website-  http://iluv2quilt.blogspot.com/  and that people put a lot of work into their quilts so they didn't want pictures taken.  I don't think I will be making this quilt from a picture-but Sheree may after she retires!

I did take a few pictures before we were admonished for doing so.  We fell in love with this pillow.  Now this would be something we could make without a pattern.

And another one that was completely machine embellished.  This is the last "legal" picture I took.

I really liked this one and just had to have a picture.  This is a Turning 20 variety in yellows and grays.

 This looked like one of Bonnie's too.  Her spider web string quilt.  It was so pretty with the colors they used.

Sheree inspecting a triangle quilt.  This could be done with our rulers on strips sewn together.  Easy Peasy.

A pretty bargello. I couldn't sneak pictures of some of the other quilts.  They had a Frozen quilt that was amazing, a Mickey Mouse quilt that Cathy fell in love with.  Sheree is talking about buying one of the embroidery machines when she retires so she will be able to make some of these.  Check out their website.  The link is at the first picture from their shop. I didn't get pictures of the machine embroidered quilts, except for the couple above.

We stopped at the Green Turtle for lunch.  We had to speed the kitchen up because it was discovered that the last quilt shop wasn't opened as late as we thought it was.  They were going to keep it open and extra half hour for us!

I forgot to get pictures inside this shop, so Cathy and Patty stood by the sign at the door.  They had a "yard sale" going on in the basement where we all made purchases before going upstairs to the main store to buy even more fabric.

After the Traditions White Swan, we parted ways to head home.  The group I was with were talking about Mr. Ed's Elephant Museum and we decided to stop.  I got a picture of Rhonda and Deb with the truck to share with their own Mr. Eds!

I didn't think to take a picture of the market bag that Rhonda made.  You can barely see it in this picture.  Rhonda will have to show it to us next month so I can get a real picture of it.

We made a quick tour of the museum and then bought a little bit of candy.  I was most impressed with the seasoned crickets and worms they were selling.  No one wanted to sample those.

Here is a little bit of show and tell.  My neighbor recently had surgery, so I made her the chevron table topper that Patty shared on Facebook.  I used some of my shirts for this.  Turned out cute.

Did anyone add up how much you spend on fabric?  I was shocked to see that I spent a little more than $80 and this is what I have to show for it.  I see the colors are way off.  The mat is the green cutting mat, and the pile of fabric that is not mostly pink (do you see a theme here???) is aqua and teal.  These will go into my purse; I finally have fabrics I love for it.

These shop hops are so much fun-I just wish we knew what Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt was going to be this year.  Talking about BH's mystery quilt-I really should finish mine from last year.  It is on my design wall waiting for a backing and to be quilted.

Next month, I believe quilt club is going to be on the 24th.  Peggy will probably be ready to share her round of the round robin quilt with us.  I hope to see everyone there!

Special Olympics Quilt-August 2015

 Thank you Cathy for sending pictures of our Special Olympics quilt!  I forgot about adding it to our blog until you mentioned tickets.  So for anyone interested in buying tickets-contact Cathy and she will be able to get them for you.

This wasn't a difficult quilt to make, but it was a challenge.  We had to make modifications to it as we put it together.  This was particularly challenging because there was a huge, big, enormous difference in our 1/4 inch seams.  Lots of ripping and resewing.  After all of that, it turned out great.

Thank you Rhonda for the quilting.  The quilt had to leave before we got to see the finished product-I am sure it looks even prettier in person.

August 2015

It seems like I was just saying summer finally got here yesterday and now the end of summer is upon us.  I am sorry to see it go.

Rhonda has her Mojo back-I don't think it was missing for very long!  The first two quilt tops are disappearing pinwheels.  The pink one is on the frame.  Just adorable!

This one is a disappearing shoo fly.  What a fun technique to make these interesting and cute quilts.

Rhonda finished her braided border.  I love seeing how these are turning out.

We had a pretty little visitor today-Harley!  This is Patty's granddaughter.  Of course at seven years old, all of our talk about quilts and fabric quickly got boring.  She was anxious to go to a birthday party.  It was nice to meet you Harley!

We had brunch instead of lunch today.  Our frittata didn't make it.  Poor Peggy had to stay home to supervise a new deck.   We missed you Peggy.

We did have delicious blueberry bread pudding that Sheree brought.  She is going to give me the recipe to post.  Cathy brought a yummy Danish ring, and Rhonda provided tasty watermelon.

Cathy got her Mojo back too!  She finished two Halloween table toppers.

Patty's mystery quilt is done, done, done.  Very pretty-quilt and girl!

I brought some baby shoes and wallets that I made-but didn't take a picture and didn't do much quilting.  I did make a panel baby quilt for my newest grandson Micah, but I forgot to take a picture of that.

Sheree was working on the backing to a quilt she made, Linda was working on odds and ends.  She finished a bag.  Rhonda was working on her Bonnie Hunter quilt.  Cathy was working on her large black, red and white tumbler quilt.   I was working on a miniature tumbler Christmas stocking.

Next month, on the 26th, we are going to do a Fall shop hop.  We are heading west this time.

We missed you Peggy, Deb and Sue.  Hope to see everyone next time.
