September 2014

Welcome to our newest member-Pat, Patty or Patricia!  I hope you enjoy our quilt club as much as we do. (you will have to let me know what name you prefer.)  Pat recently retired and is ready to get back to her sewing machine, which was sorely neglected for 20 years.  I am sure she will be putting it to good use now that she has more time to enjoy sewing again. I thought I had a picture of you for our blog-but you effectively avoided the camera!  We'll be sure to get one next club meeting.

And now on to show and tell.

This is a breast cancer quilt I am making for a young woman I recently met from my new job.

These are bags that Peggy was busy making since last time!  What a pretty assortment.

Here is another memory quilt Linda made.  She experimented with some new techniques of twisting and turning some blocks.  Looks great Linda!

Linda has taken full advantage of some of the new blocks we have been learning how to make recently.  This is a tropical wedding quilt with a pieced border.  Beautiful!

This is the top of a baby quilt Linda made from a quilt kit she bought at a show?  One with five fabrics-very cute.

Linda said she has been very busy working, but she has found time somehow to work on many projects too.  We made snowmen quilts as a group, but Linda decided to turn hers into table runners.  Good idea!

Some more of the blocks we recently learned to make turned into a table runner.  You are on a good roll Linda!
Rhonda made another tumbler bag-patriotic this time.  We loved it!

Even the inside was cool-that flag print really sets everything off well.
Rhonda makes some of the most impressive memory quilts.  Here is one made with clothes from a friend's father.  Rhonda saw this quilt in a magazine ad and figured it out.

Here it a close up.  I am going to have to pin this one!!!
Can you believe this is also a memory quilt?  This is beautiful!  It is made with clothes once again.  Rhonda used the pattern from Missouri Star Quilt Company for this.  Another pin I need to do!

This is Rhonda's most recent T-shirt memory quilt.   She did the wonky square for this and it turned out great!  She had to go to Obie's for the fire-truck fabric.  That fabric is fitting for that shop-LOL!
The back has memorabilia about Rhonda's friend's father.  What a nice touch.
Cathy forgot to bring her show and tell-so she sent me a picture.  Smart thinking Cathy!  This is glow in the dark fabric she used to make pillow cases for all the grands.  Adorable!

Cathy sent me a picture of what Pat is working on--this pretty log cabin.  Have you decided on a setting for it Pat?  Pat use the fabric folding technique for this.   Maybe you could share how you did this with us?  We like to learn new block, techniques, etc.

For lunch we took a walk on this beautiful September day to the Mexican lunch wagon close to Rhonda's house.  The walk was nice, the experience was fun and the food was great!

Next month we will be meeting October 25th.  We missed Deb and hope to see her then.
